When you're single and unmarried, what do you do for sex?
I can honestly say that this particular matter of thought had never crossed my mind, mostly since my mind is usually preoccupied with fulfilling other primal needs such as food, water and internet connectivity but I suspect, it may just also be the fact that as a female, the "need for sex" does not drive me to the same extent as it may affect another species - for example - men.
So the other day, I am typing away to glory at the desktop while this bloke is reformatting my laptop for me. The conversation revolves around my ongoing house-hunt. I specify a need for a two-bedroom place for "my family and me".
The instantaneous retort is about my husband and two kids joining me. I carry on with my work while negating the the notion - the two bedrooms are for my parents and me - says I.
Oh - then what about my boyfriend? No! I am too busy to have one (which is partially true at the moment! Boyfriends are notorious for the amount of time and attention that they demand!)
Then comes the extremely surprised, accompanied-by-a-shake-of-the-head, I-can't-believe-this sort of "what do you do for sex then?"
As a lawyer, I am rarely at a loss for words in life. This, however, almost threw me. Almost.
Here's my list of retorts; pick your favorite one!
1. I'm female, I don't need a man to reach an orgasm.
2. I'm gay.
3. Oh! That? I just take multi-vitamins.
4. Why? Are they taxing it nowadays?
5. Oh, I just get it once a year during the annual insurance check up!
Sometimes, when I happen to chance upon a particularly lost cause to the human world sorta character, I shake my head and say, " now I've seen it all".
Then I stand disproved of that notion.

I'd written a post recently about how things change on a daily basis but the
big picture remains the same. I've been thinking about that a lot lately.
